And who is the composer?

I could bypass everything and just use Xorg (I did spend a while figuring out how to get virtual displays going with it on NVIDIA, there is a few tricks because you can actually crash the display engine) but I’m kinda invested in figuring this out

Now that I actually have time I may dive into this

Hold up I can replicate the "sunshine can't see all frames" with gamescope wayland if I force composition in gamescope?

From all the weirdness the thing that has me the most stumped is that gamescope throttles games down to 60fps when the mouse is not moving.

It doesn't matter if the game has vsync or not.

I suspect sway headless displays have some weirdness with damage tracking? or maybe with frame callbacks?

I tried throwing Gamescope into the equation and it gets even weirder. If I use the SDL backend it behaves the same as the games do normally.

If I use the Wayland backend then Sunshine detects all frames without requiring vsync, but the game is throttled down to 60fps if the mouse isn't moving??

If the game has no vsync then Sunshine only sends 1/2 or 1/3 of the frames (IE: game runs at 120fps, stream is 40fps) so the stream is choppy.

If the game has vsync then its smooth, but if the framerate dips at all below refresh rate it becomes stutter hell.

I'm using my desktop as a headless gaming setup with Sway + Sunshine and it works quite well but it has some inscrutable weirdness with framerates and vsync?

Does the first one work on macOS?

I WANT to waste all my memory on 2MB pages for every program

Think of the TLB hitrate

I live 5ms away from a Geforce Now datacenter, its basically indistinguishable from local play here heh

Would it be possible to use huge pages exclusively on Linux x86?

Some of the files alone require 20GB of RAM to open in Pandas lol
