23. Not in My Book by Katie Holt
I picked up this book bc I saw it on a rec list for holiday romance, though only part of the book takes place at Christmas, and I LOVED it!! I’m relatively new to the romance genre and it’s not usually my favorite but this one really worked for me… +

22. The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna
what a cute and fun book!! this is a quick and easy read. I found it mostly predictable with lots of tropes, but they’re tropes for a reason! they work together to make this book very warm and feel-good.

21. Babel by RF Kuang
i was completely emotionally devastated by this book and did in fact just sit and stare for a while when I finished. I’ve seen a LOT of conflicting opinions on this book so I’m going to try to explain why I loved it and why others might not!

20. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
I cannot believe I hadn’t read this until now! this book is possibly the height of gothic drama— the characters are so passionate, the atmosphere is alternating between idyllic and spooky, themes of obsession and isolation…

19. Hell Bent by Leigh Bardugo
(I totally forgot to post this one when i finished it) i loved this book for all the same reasons i loved the first in the series. it does lose a bit of the atmospheric mystery, being a sequel, but it gains a bit of speed in the romance department…
