Phoenix has always been hot, but not this hot. In early 1900s, highs typically reached 110 degrees fewer than 10 days a year. Last year, it happened 70 times; this year, 30+ already. Nine of the city’s 10 hottest years have come since 2010.

This affects everybody, but especially unhoused people.
