Good for you! I also have tried to avoid the “we are not on the same page for a dumb reason” trope. It drives me bonkers.

It’s so hard!!! I want to lean hard into character moments like all the time, but I have to remind myself that I can’t have too many “low intensity” moments in a row, especially at the beginning and end of chapters. It can be emotional intensity or physical or whatever, but there must be tension.

I pretty much only do academic writing and fantasy! The fantasy might range from adventure to romantasy, and this is my only project that’s a portal fantasy. Usually I do a totally fictional world.

And like, I’m making it so it can stand solo, but I’d love a duology, so I have the extra layer of “Okay, but does this work as the name of a series?”
