This U-turn is frustrating and embarrassing, but it says about people's values if that's the final straw, rather than refusal to condemn genocide, dismantling trans rights etc.

I'm in the former camp and i'd say
1. cycle to work instead of tube
2. stop going to the parts that are crowded
3. there are so many open green spaces, it thrives in summer
4. fair but niche city criteria

There's some substance to that critique, but not many economists take the results of integrated assessment models seriously.

Just to say, I've always found the podcast very insightful and well researched, but now that I've listened to an episode on a topic I know well I'm even more impressed. You covered such a great breadth of research and clearly a huge amount of work goes into these episodes.

Sleep restriction therapy is the only thing that worked for me. Horrendous couple of months whilst doing it but pretty life changing.

They're also governing as if the only thing that matters is re-election. Do the policies that they think get you re-elected whether or not they are positive for society. A horrible way to think about leadership and a never-ending dynamic which renders the whole thing futile.

Technically noise pollution is an externality which does 'warrant' government intervention, but I agree that this would be massive govt overreach.
