False Aralia is a label for Izaak Schlossman to deploy new aliases with focused explorations of Topdown Dialecticesque sounds. There's deconstituted hushed speech fragments in a computer generated swamp, but there's also some discernable singing on the A side! The B side is 15 min in the deep end 😈

Dustin Wong has gotta be my top pick for that category, but there's also this one from Jorge Espinal, tho it maybe still sounds a little bit like guitar

There must have been some magic in that old moog Omni Gardens found, for when he played these tunes on it, seasonal depression was turned around! I'm so happy to have this collection of synth'd up Christmas tunes full of warmth and care, this is going to be a staple of the season going forward.

Idea Fire Company have been going for decades, but I had no idea until now! It's an overdue intro, they are making my kind of music. This one has the sort of stasis dissolution that I love from Water Damage with a bit more quiet and less duration, making the decay feel internally driven. I love it!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a glass head and have someone poking around in there, cleaning things out with some scrapes, ringing hits, and doses of high frequency waves? You no longer have to just imagine it! You can listen to this new one from Masaya Kato on headphones.

Jawnino & SURF GANG have something that sits in an odd inbetween, with synths that sound emotionally rained out and drums that get punchy and present. Jawnino's rapping feels like it carries both qualities, the former in his tone and the latter in his speed. It's a great listen, wish it was longer!

If you need to be reminded about the fantastic Disiniblud album from earlier this year, this remix album is a great way of seeing the strengths through a variety of new perspectives. Artists like Kelly Moran, The Field, and Baths all put a new light on the curious sense of awe inside these melodies.

Anne Imhof starts this album in a space that feels similar to the messy detachment that Alpha Maid pursued on her latest, but with more emptiness. As the music continues, she gets more fired up while still preserving the void, using the sense of something left unrendered as emphasis for what's here.

This is a quality compilation for a great org! It has that kind of sequencing where nothing alike is adjacent, you're always getting sent off in a different direction with every +1 on the track count. Very glad to be introduced to the unfamiliar names here, Crying Laughing is one to watch!
Dave Ruder and I put together this amazing 19-track comp to raise funds for trans healthcare. Featured artists include Crying Laughing, Mikel Patrick Avery, Ryan Power, Icy Demons (!!!), Jack Cooper & Tara Cunningham and many more. Put it in yr bandcamp cart! goldbolus.bandcamp.com/album/mandat...

Hesaitix (fka M.E.S.H.) has a new single out, and it's the most straightforward dance stuff he's done in forever. The b-side is actually kind of smooth! But it still doesn't feel like it betrays the work he's been doing on the future architecture and air quality, it just turns out this can fit.

Eamon Ivri (aka Lighght) and JQ team up and pursue abstraction as an appeal rather than an obstacle to connection, dimming the lights and focusing the attention on one area while doing major work in the corner of your eye, shifting the landscape before you can know it. There's good mystery here!

It's been nearly a decade since we heard from Paul Jebanasam, and he stored all that temporal energy to make one big leap. The audio processing and transformation work so substantially in expanding the ways this music can become something new. This is no mere effect. It's truly fresh material!

It took 13 years, but Donato Dozzy & Neel finally have another Voices from the Lake album. They're offering ambient techno that operates like a group of metal zoetropes running at complimentary frame rates displaying looping descents into pillows, softening any sense of the machinery. It's bliss!!

But what if fraud from outsiders using AI generated music is an entirely separate issue from fraud that supports major label artists, and what if the latter issue may still be responsible for driving down rates for other artists? It feels like people might start saying this. It sounds plausible.
December 4, 2025 at 7:11 PM
I am familiar with the party line. But I appreciate you citing an example that shows the difference is that fradulent activity on other platforms will actually be detected and persecuted!
December 4, 2025 at 5:37 PM
Do you worry that this information, when combined with the company's reputation for botted streams, might lead people to believe that the "industry wide problem" of fraud is in fact much more of a problem on Spotify than anywhere else?

But maybe I'm wrong! I'd be very happy to be. If you happen to have an example of the most passionate expression of support for trans people that your org has given, I'd love to see it. The thing in the pdf seemed antiseptic and bloodless, so I really hope that isn't it.

Is there more info about the advocacy you reference here? I see your organization mentioned as one of the signatories in a letter that gets read into the record for this federal one but I can't find anything about what you've done in the states. I have to say that this feels grossly inadequate.
