Why did the professor require a trans TA to grade a paper that consisted entirely of blood libels towards the TA and called her “demonic?” Why is nobody interviewing the professor about this absolutely demented decision they made?

Be serious. He literally fought for your country. The law of honor demands he should have been treated justly; and if the law of honor doesn’t hold weight for you then you’re going to have a harder and harder time getting this kind of auxilliary support in future conflicts as people learn this.

Of course, “veteran services continue to fail and abandon their charges” doesn’t generate right wing outrage like “foreign man foreignly commits foreign-type crime against brave honorable defenders of freedom” but for what it’s worth I’m glad some journalists are still trying 🩵

I think it is possible for an economist to become a good person and learn how to use their framing for good: Marx is a prominent example of this.

It doesn’t claim anything at all about justice. This is why it is inherently suspect. The worldview that there essentially is no right or wrong, that we’re all just self-interested actors equally willing to do harm to one another for gain is the cornerstone of all ur-fascisms.

I guess it depends on whether your goal is to clarify what is happening (sociologists) or obfuscate and naturalize it and disperse blame away from exploiters and onto abstract forces (economist). The moral dimension matters, whether you personally are able to perceive it or not.
