I know I'm fighting a massive losing battle against this piece of misinformation because it seems so entrenched but every time I see "console games just download from the internet now anyway" I get kinda mad because it just isn't true.

70% of physical PS4/5 games install fine with no internet.

I’ve been coding since I was 8 years old. I often code on nights and weekends and I just… love it.

I also have had a hard time feeling wrong for doing so because I keep hearing about work/life balance from folks and how I shouldn’t.

I wrote a blog post about this tension.

You can call posts here "tweets" if you want to. Tweeting doesn't have to be something that was only proprietary to Twitter, which doesn't even exist anymore as a brand anyway. Tweeting can be the act of sharing bit-sized and possibly psychotic musings on a platform like this.

Just thinking out loud:

It should not be possible to patent game mechanics or designs

It's an absurd idea on it's face. Akin to patenting and owning a certain camera motion in films, or a way of formatting text in a poem, or a brushstroke, or a panel layout for comics

The secrets behind Astro Bot's success include a small team, a reasonable scope, and people who have worked together for years. It's a model for the video game industry.

For this week's column, I spoke to the director of 2024's best-reviewed game: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...

The fear of piracy, much like modern copyright law, is a cudgel that giant corporations swing around to cling to the barest semblance of control. Damning our collective history in the process.

Every time I get a message from a website saying "We’re changing our terms and conditions" I automatically read it in Darth Vader's voice with "Pray I do not alter it any further" appended. Which is appropriate really.

I started a google spreadsheet listing old magazine review scores.
If you want to contribute, just find the scores section in the mag scan of your choosing and add it to the sheet here:

Help me make the Internet a better place: old magazines review...
Currently, if you want to look at a review score any old magazine gave to an old game, there's no place on the Internet to quickly find that info. You'd have to search through old magazine scans...
