Starmer and Labour have changed their Policy on Migration in Government, unable and unwilling to take on the predominantly Right Wing and unelected Media who actually decide how the UK is governed.
We welcome migrants. ‘We don’t scapegoat them. Low wages, poor housing, poor public services are not the fault of migrants and people who’ve come here: they’re political failure. Political failure. ‘So we have to make the case for the benefits of migration, the benefits of free movement.’ Keir Starmer spoke those words in January 2020, shortly before Brexit was delivered and the UK officially left the European Union. He was running for the Labour leadership at the time – a race he won just over two months later. A board behind him featured his slogan: ‘Another future is possible’. Today, those words could be read as a caveat to his speech.

I very much admire Shabana Mahmood. I admire Wes Streeting. I don’t dislike Keir Starmer at all; I just think he and Rachel Reeves have got themselves into an unnecessarily difficult situation … I’d say he’s handled foreign affairs and defence better than I would have expected, and domestic politics worse.”

Mr Farage offers no explanation about how the £10 billion cost of this gigantic exercise is to be met, including £2,500 pots for each illegal immigrant agreeing to leave. But, given the toxic climate surrounding the issue, it hardly matters. Mr Farage speaks from the luxurious position of opposition. He has never held high office and his party has never run a ministry. Unlike Labour and the Tories Reform has no track record to weigh it down. It can promise the earth on immigration and be rewarded with votes from a disillusioned and angry electorate, even if its plans do not stack up. Its rivals had better come up with something radical of their own, or face the consequences.
