Looking for beauty in materials and ideas of meaning
This video feed is, actually, nuts, especially if you've spent any time looking at volcano feeds
Y'all the latest episode of the #Kilauea #eruption just went CRAZY. It looks like pressure built up enough to explode out the ground around the two existing vents (first few seconds), leading to a massive surge in lava fountaining.🌋🤯

It's a perfect example of the reason the rich should pay more taxes: their wealth depends on the rest of us having such a convenient and safe life that we can afford to build and buy the things they sell and make.
anyway, wake me up when bezos decides he’s okay with footing the true cost of road and airway infrastructure AMZ is absolutely critically dependent on
amazon threatens this every year and every year they come to the conclusion that actually attempting this would cost them significantly more than what they currently pay, this is *always* an attempt to renegotiate their costs, but the post has not *always* been owned by AMZ’s largest shareholder

Older cars are much, much less safe
Car nostalgia like this is just nuts to me.
Many older cars, of course, look cool. But they're also less fuel efficient and much less safe, with fewer creature comforts and also generally much less reliable.
Sean Duffy on slashing fuel economy standards: "This rule will actually allow you to bring back the 1970s station wagon. Maybe a little wood paneling on the side. We can bring back choice to consumers."

Sir, I love you more than word can wield the matter,
Dearer than eyesight, space, and liberty,
Beyond what can be valued, rich or rare,
No less than life, with grace, health, beauty, honor...
Kristi Noem: "Sir, you made it through hurricane season without a hurricane. You kept the hurricanes away. We appreciate that."

Please notice here that the president has got it exactly backwards: the president of the United States is subordinate to the people of the United States. The only people subordinate to the president are employees of the executive branch, which the reporter is absolutely not.
Q: Why wait for Congress to release the Epstein files? Why not just do it now?

TRUMP: It's not the question that I mind. It's your attitude. I think you're a terrible reporter. It's the way you ask these questions. You start off with a man who's highly respected asking him an insubordinate question

i don't think that bush v. gore is the *worst* ruling in the history of the supreme court, but i do think it is the most openly *corrupt* ruling in its history. a real disgrace.

A lot of the surface decoration in a salt firing is a result of salt vapor moving through the kiln, and since I always liked the varied surface from the updraft kiln, I though to build the saggars shown above around the pieces I fired in this kiln, so the interaction of salt and surface was varied.

In a downdraft kiln, the fuel and fire enters at the bottom of the kiln and exits at the bottom, where it goes up a chimney. The result is a more homogenous atmosphere within the kiln.

In the updraft kiln, the gas path follows the heat, and the effect is more like a flame: rising unevenly as it burns.
