It’s so wild how the wealthy are destroying the Amazon that potentially has the cure for all the cancers in favor of an Amazon that’s creating new types of cancers

We don't talk enough about the concept of technical debt and the majority of money men executives have little or zero understanding of the concept.

This is a sunk cost fallacy at work- they think the product is a singular item, a tower moving ever upwards.
I realized just how much technical debt I had accumulated for Oneirality. I chose to restart my project early this month

Recently, I redesigned my visibility system to use Godot's point light nodes, and added a Thief-like visibility meter

Locked replies so qting to reply here, but ya. Copy/paste w/out understanding is what bad devs did pre llms, and it's exacerbated since, as it further separates people from understanding. They're fine at playing fancy autocomplete for code you know, but for learning they are empirically atrocious.
Isn’t the whole thing that the massive majority of coding is, well, reading, trying to understand existing code, I guess LLMs can kind of summarise things but bugs and incorrect information becomes a massive problem there, I still just don’t see how it’s helpful beyond slop

Have an idea for a new nickelodeon style obstacle course/gameshow called the kidchipper. Kids answer science questions and if they're wrong a guy in a old fashioned ice cream vendor uniform comes out and puts them in a giant foam woodchipper.

Blocking people who liked a post by someone irritating me while not blocking the person himself to break the thread for fun

A lot of people yelling this is implausible in the replies are in denial about the (purely manufactured) cost of living in cities. They are also conflating salary with household income. A *salary* of 140k is still high, but if both parents work making 70k, other (childcare, food) costs skyrocket.
TL;DR: the *actual* poverty line in the US for a family of four with two young children is about $140,000, and there isn't much improvement in quality of life between $40K and $100K.

There's more good stuff in there too, you should read the whole thing.

Honestly? Good. Let people ruin a few Thanksgiving meals, it's like the least dangerous way for there to be the necessary outrage at scale.
NEW: AI “recipe slop” is overrunning search and social. Food creators say Google’s AI Overviews and glossy fake food pics are drowning out real, tested recipes — collapsing traffic and setting home cooks up for disaster, especially this Thanksgiving.

Was thinking, one thing that killed me when grifters yelled at me about the 2024 election for daring to criticize democrats, is that I stood in line for hours to vote for Stacey Abrams in 2018. Like, tbh that is way more "voting cred" off that one election than anything those people ever did.

This is catastrophic. We have a severe provider shortage in u.s. healthcare, and a dire need for policies to replenish our workforce. This is the opposite. This just makes a critical situation far worse, limiting the ability of people to seek these degrees when they otherwise would.
ICYMI Dept of Education will no longer considers these professional degrees:

Nursing
Public health
Social work
Physician assistant
Occupational therapy
Physical therapy
Audiology
Speech-language pathology
Social work
Counseling & therapy
Health Admin

A smaller health workforce makes us all sicker
