The argument in the text is they can’t accomplish their policy goal while following due process (and therefore the standards should flex). That’s a general purpose argument for fascism, not one specific to immigration.
The VP seems to suggest a suspension of due process rights to tackle illegal immigration. This would be in line with El Salvador’s Bukele but not the U.S. Supreme Court

I will try to put this in football terms.
We are a team that people think is gonna suck, so we have to offer lower prices for season tickets.
Thinks of yields (which move opposite to prices) as the amenities—like throwing in hot dogs and drinks to make the tickets more enticing.
