In my opinion, democrats' best hope is to not continue plunging down rabbit holes like this. The opportunity for justice in this case is past. Democrats must stay above ground with the people and make life better. There has never been so much opportunity.

Exactly. Most power strips are made to open on voltage spikes and dips. Circuit breakers and fuses are overcurrent protection. I know there are exceptions but most common low-cost power strips are not sophiscated.

The main benefit of it being up for a floor vote is the votes will be recorded. Every member of congress, assuming it is passed out of the house, will have to state their position on releasing the files. No one expects it to be signed into law.
