The tradition is to give two weeks of advanced notice, but I have seldom seen a company honor this.

This also applies to all situations where you are exiting the company (e.g., firing, furlough).

It almost always aligns with the end of a pay period. Consider this when giving notice. If you do not time it well, they may push you out the door in the span of days just to make it easier for the payroll department."

Someone (e.g., EU, Federal, state) is going to establish regulations. If not, it will be decided in the courts.

Buckle up. Things are just going to get weirder and/or more bleak for job searching until basic ground rules are set.

You will find it in application screening, reviewing/scoring interviews, skill assessments, etc. Even industry experts don’t know what will happen next. Regulation will eventually catch up. Until then, be prepared for a job search that ranges from odd to inhumane."

It is wise to peek at the job board for neighboring states. There is a chance that a nation-wide remote job was posted on their board but not be on your local board.

When it comes time to review the candidates, you want their memory of your interview to be as pleasant as possible.

Your interview response should sound like a story with a beginning, middle, and end. The STAR method can help with framing your response.

STAR stands for Situation, Task, Action, and Result. There are many useful guides on the web.
