In export markets it did. Only in Britain (and maybe Ireland) did the Metro name remain until the 1994 facelift, just due to popularity.

…nothing needs a second glance. It’s an industrial product. And to give it a sporting attitude, they’ve tacked on trinkets, and that somehow makes me very happy. There are jazzy seats, decals, spotlamps, spoilers, and beautiful four-spoke alloy wheels. It’s dynamic in a manner… (2/3)
