This was the premise of a TV show, hosted by Jonathan Frakes. "Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction" It was an interesting concept, I think it struggled to make some of the false stories seem plausible. But nowdays you can just scrape whatever's trending on X for inspiration, so it might be even easier?
