First time speaking with a "virtual recruiter," which is when an AI voice reads you prompts like "describe your experience with software development" while you consider what buzzwords it's programmed to look for and what this implies about the employer.

Things you hear at chess club:

Young girl: "Give the queen a massage."
Me: "She deserves it, she works hard."
YG: "Harder than the king, at least. 🙄"

I probably struggle more than I should in determining whether ADHD counts as a "disability" when filling out forms.

Why isn't there an option for "I consider this more of an unstable superpower than a disability" as an answer? I guess maybe that's what "I prefer not to answer" means?

Looking back, an astounding amount of my childhood basically amounted to finding ways to entertain myself with minimal guidance.

Nowdays that's easier than ever, entertainment always seems within reach.

So, how can we expect people to get better at something they don't practice?

@fragskye.bsky.social Great work on Grimoire of Oblivion! The little crawler was super spooky, I think he even grabbed me through a clothes rack. 😂 Loved the look, and the atmosphere. "Dr. Proverb" got a good chuckle out of me too!

I probably just didn't get it, but my hot take is that Anora doesn't pass the "sexy lamp" test. It's a thrilling film, sure, but it's much more about what happens *to* Ani instead of how she interacts with the world. The only meaningful decision we see her make on-screen is at the very end.

Oh, and while I'm reminiscing about family members and gaming youth, shout-out to my aunt who blew my young mind by introducing me to DOOM! I still remember the sense of complete awe when she showed me how to type in 'doom.exe' and I saw the title screen appear in front of DOS for the first time!

Long ago, my uncle gifted me his copy of the King's Quest Collection, a 3-disc set containing all 7 games. This helped nurture a lifelong passion for games and game development.

With physical media disappearing, I wonder what will become of the hand-me-down games that defined our youth?

Definitely one of the coolest things I've ever found at a thrift store.

If your parents got you something like this as a kid, you should thank them.

Now I'm curious what the starter projects it recommends are. Hopefully I can dig up an instruction manual somewhere online...

I've never tried microblogging. A lot of things have changed for me recently, though. Primarily, getting laid off from the job I had for nearly 12 years.

This has given me the needed push to prioritize game development and elevate it from a hobby to a career.

So why not try bluesky too?
