Is there anyone as unabashedly sexy as Eva Marie Saint in North by Northwest? Good grief.

Mostly I keep my crafty stuff on Instagram (where I am also EditrixEmma), but I made a coat and that is a big undertaking so I'm going to celebrate it everywhere. (The pattern is the Poppy Coat by The Fabric Store, in blue wool blend fabric with red kasha lining.)

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched:

Haven't done this in a few weeks because of baseball and The Lowdown (great show by the way). But I have watched a few things this week: Beatty is as charismatic as ever, disappointing sequels and remakes, and the most glorious adaptation of Frankenstein.

I first discovered Clive Barker's Books of Blood when I was 18, visiting family in England. Found a weird little bookshop and bought volume 1 (and a Discworld book), and proceeded to have my mind blown. Finally got the matching edition of volume 2 today, just missing number 6.

RIP Diane Ladd. Love her in Wild at Heart, a movie I appreciate even more every time I watch it.

I always love seeing people's awards eligibility posts to remind me of things I haven't had a chance to read yet, so I thought I'd post my very first one! Just a couple of articles, I'll link them here:

I don't have four movies watched to post today (baseball took over my tv) but I have me dressed as four books I love instead, enjoy! Read these:
Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng by Kylie Lee Baker
Hemo Sapiens by Emily A. Weedon
The Marigold by Andrew F. Sullivan
Soft Targets by Carson Winter

Post a perfect album from 1989, a perfect music year.

Done.

It's our work Halloween party today but I also have a ton of meetings so I'm channeling Coop rather than getting too bloody or anything.

Four books to get to know me (the formative books, rather than more recent ones)

Glad to have a copy of King Sorrow at my desk today, but a little daunted by the prospect of lugging this enormous tome on my commute.

My husband went to buy movie posters today from the poster guy who runs the Hollywood Canteen in Toronto. He got some great stuff and then made me close my eyes to show me this: an absolutely massive Fire Walk with Me Italian poster. Beyond thrilled.

Finally! So excited to see how @realgdt.bsky.social has adapted Frankenstein.

Sorry here you go. Terrible dark photo but I like the dress.

I have a bunch, but here's my most recent: inspired by Clay McLeod Chapman's upcoming horror romance novel Devil Inside.

Another #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched (baseball is really cutting into my movie watching but I still managed 4): two completely pointless remake/sequels, one of the only cop movies I like (largely due to the kickass cars), and a gothic story that falls flat for me but had a few good images.

Pretty tempted to make this my profile pic at work.

My husband just brought home a couple of upcoming releases for me (his job means we get a lot of movies)! I haven't seen Weapons yet but looking forward to it, and In the Mouth of Madness is probably my fave Carpenter film. And there's an essay from @richardkadrey.bsky.social!

If you like noirish, kind of terrible gumshoes who are investigating a creepy medspa that may or may not be run by vampires, you should definitely read Emily Weedon's Hemo Sapiens.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched: a couple of Cronenbergs bookend the week. Loved OBAA, love The Brood (always, wrote about it in Night Tide last year)...Shivers and What Lies Beneath are fine but not show stopping.

Dressed up for the Playhouse In Conversation with Mona Awad. Can't wait!

Really enjoyed Richard Kadrey's The Pale House Devil (I enjoy all his books!) so excited to check out The Flesh King.

Did I just see Nine Inch Nails in Toronto? Yes. Am I going again because they're playing in Hamilton? Also yes. No idea when or if I'll get the chance again so might as well go for it.

Happy book birthday to @jennykiefer.com and Crafting for Sinners! As a crafty person, this book feels hilariously disgustingly accurate and I loved it. You should read it especially if you are also a crafty person (who is not squeamish)
