The U.S. constitution did assume that "local notables" were a real thing that mattered bc the U.S. constitution assumed states would not be so comprehensively dominated by the federal government as they have been for a long time

It's not an option for *most* political tendencies outside of extreme crises. Most of the time we can't prove our desired policies are correct. If we could we wouldn't make policy errors. Most issue advocacy is values-driven and we all have different values + weight values differently.

YIMBY can do this because the metric being optimized, $/sqft, is dead simple and completely objective and as such is not really vulnerable to relativistic critiques by Groups. And most critically it is a metric people presently care about intensely + for which you can't pick an alternative to chase

If deficit spending actually made a dent in increasing growth, it would be another story, but it never does, it just becomes profit margin. So we invest and accept that people wasting their money is a them problem. I vote straight ticket Dem. Raise my taxes idc I'll get that money back in my 401k

Correct, before social media won, the social media critics were the person who wants to improve society somewhat, and the social media boosters made the glib response that they also participate in society. The critics lost, and social media power users won at the expense of society.

- If you know how to make a struggling American industry put up real growth numbers without AI you can get that UAE money to prove it. You don't, nobody does, and this is happening because the world runs on capitalism and growth and not vibes. Capitalism will outlast AI; get over it.

- nobody, I mean nobody, genuinely believes that you have a problem with the propaganda being generated by AI. You would be just as mad at the propaganda if it were made by artists who just want to get paid on a freelance platform - and yes there are tons who would do it.

- if AI hadn't been propping up the market/economy in 2024, which it was, Trump would have crushed Harris even harder and had a better mandate. Nobody knows how else to actually grow the biggest economy on Earth. This is happening bc every other sector is failing to grow.

IIRC his whole thing was the passive investing bubble which for a layperson is definitely unfalsifiable but still idk how it can be wrong. A USA that doesn't bail out the 401ks is the start of a new iteration of the Republic. Index inclusion is now a critical milestone to unlock blind capital
