Remigijus Žemaitaitis, leader of Lithuania’s populist Dawn of Nemunas ruling coalition party, has been found guilty of incitement to hatred against Jews and downplaying the Holocaust in a decision by the Vilnius Regional Court.

Rule number one of crisis comms: put everything out there. Yet it's hard not to conclude that one of these two people, Commission senior official Sannino or anonymous spokesperson, is being deliberately misleading here.

Why is the commissioner standing inside a doll’s house?
I truly do find it sad and maddening that the EU’s top court wasted four years of its time having to reject this Commission official’s grubby attempt to claw back extra special money he was never owed - a spurious demand at best
