I'm curious, have a growth mindset, and enjoy biking, ecological gardening and nature. Dark sky advocate. Less is more. Let’s take better care of Earth - the only planet with craft beer. 🌎🍻
I recently completed a National Wildlife Federation project by adopting an #ecological yard approach that prioritizes native plants, provides food & water for #insects & #wildlife, includes shelter from weather/predators, #habitat for rearing young, and uses #sustainable yard maintenance practices.

Development may benefit humans, but various studies have concluded that more than 75% of Earth’s ice-free land area can no longer be considered wild #habitat for non-human #animals.

Inspiring to see so many citizens testify at the #Massachusetts State House in support of a bill (H965/S644) to protect #wildlife from rodenticides. It's a grass roots movement by @massaudubon.org and others that I've been involved in for a year. Fingers crossed it gets across the finish line.

Shifting Baseline Syndrome is the name given to the process whereby ongoing damage to #nature becomes normalized over time, as each new generation measures loss against an already degraded benchmark.

Earlier this year I earned my Pollinator Steward certificate from the Pollinator Partnership, and gained an even greater appreciation for the importance of creating #pollinator #habitat.

If you want to decrease your impact on the #environment and save some money, consider skipping or limiting your fall "cleanup" this year.

It was exciting to receive my Conservation in Action certificate from @massaudubon.org last week. I highly recommend the course for anyone looking to expand their #nature knowledge and learn more about ways to get involved in local #conservation efforts.

#Dog urine is surprisingly tough on tree bark and roots, especially young #trees. It’s high in salts and nitrogen and can burn bark, damage roots, and kill beneficial microbes in the #soil. Over time it can lead to dead patches, weakened bark, and even invite pests or disease.

It’s easy to get enough plant protein if you actually eat a #healthy diet.

The 24th of July was Earth Overshoot Day, the date at which humanity has depleted all biological resources that the planet can replenish within a year. The date keeps getting closer, and humanity must act to reverse this trend.

Unfortunately today is #EarthOvershootDay, the date on which our planet has exhausted its capacity to regenerate its natural resources and assimilate human generated#pollution for the year.
