Ready to Revitalize is an 8-week course with a cohort of 20 language champions from Indigenous and endangered-language communities around the world.

Participants get hands-on learning, nourishing peer connections, expert guidance, and funding to support their language revitalization initiative:

In the sixth installment of “A Stream of Voices”, Antônio Jorge Madeira Batista Silva explores his lifelong relationship with a dictionary of his language, Krenak, written in 1909.

Text: "Every morning, I would pour myself a cup of coffee and sit by the balcony, letting Tepó (the sun) shine on the pages that flipped through my fingers. I would land my right index at a word and, for the rest of the day, try to use it as many times as I could. I learned to treat the little yellow book as a relative, forming a bond of kin with the text, my ancestors, and Bruno." 4) Language revitalization reconnects people to land and all living things. 🌿

Language endangerment is part of larger processes that remove and disconnect people from their lands, and their relationships with the natural world. Language revitalization helps restore those relationships.
