The water temperatures in Cape Cod Bay are now approaching 55 degrees, which means cold-stunned sea turtles will be stranding along bayside shorelines. My introduction to turtle strandings came 20 years ago this week, when I wrote this story for the Cape Codder newspaper.

During today’s storm, there was a noticeable difference in wind speeds within a short distance. At the water’s edge along the Outer Beach, wind speeds topped 50 mph. Go a mile or so inland, that gets cut in half. (Left photo courtesy Tommy Tuttle).
