Love old films and music. Classic (and not so classic).
Pinned
Given the state of things, I have to take joy from the little things. Therefore, I'm happy to see that my favorite 007 score (and my favorite Bond film) is being released in an expanded form.
.. it goes without saying that composer John Barry is a legend.

With so many great conclusions to choose from I'll go with the film that arguably gave the classic era a poetic and appropriate sendoff: TOUCH OF EVIL.

#PostmarkForDanger .... well, at least I can check that one off. Too large a cast list chasing too thin a plot IMO. Next week's offering will be much better, I think.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend (and the final day of #Noirvember) everyone.

Our female lead - Terry Moore ("Alison Ford") appeared in *both* versions of "Mighty Joe Young" (1949 and the 1998 remake). Naturally, she also played one of The Joker's molls on Batman ("Venus" - reformed!).
She will turn 97 years young in January.

In British noir there is always a high likelihood of future Bond alumnus showing up.
Inspector Colby - Geoffrey Keen Minister of Defence “Sir Frederick Gray” in six films (also in #TheThirdMan )
Sgt. Haines - Stuart Saunders (Maj. Clive in “Octopussy)

Two of the leads for #PostmarkForDanger are future alumni from a Stanley Kubrick film of some renown:
Dave Forrester - (William Sylvester, “Dr. Heywood R. Floyd” in #2001ASpaceOdyssey) {Left}
Tim Forrester - (Robert Beatty, "Dr. Ralph Halvorsen) {Right}

First, I said I wasn't going to watch #NightOfTheHunter, then I said I wasn't going to post.
I lied. 🧐
It is one of the most thought-provoking films in history. Have a great evening everyone.

If anyone ever gets a chance to see #NightOfTheHunter on the large screen ... TAKE it. It is stunning.

Laughton’s and Cortez’s dreamscape of the nightime flight down the river is, in its own way, as visually fantastical and stunningly beautiful as “The Wizard of Oz” and Murnau’s “Sunrise.” It’s a remarkable accomplishment. #TheNightOfTheHunter #tcmparty

Worse. I don't think that Laughton lived long enough to witness the critical reception of #NightOfTheHunter reverse. It's gone from a "flop" to one of the most revered films in history.

a bit of a travesty that an accomplished craftsman with such a great eye to cinematic artistry only directed one movie. #CharlesLaughton #TheNightOfTheHunter #TCMParty

Won't be posting much (if at all), but #NightOfTheHunter is pretty much a must watch for me. As great as it looks on TV, the surreal nature of the film is really effective on the large screen. Unforgettable.

Angel on my other shoulder: you don’t have it memorized yet? Watch it again!

Far too many to choose just one, but these have been my “go to” film noirs recently:
THE BIG HEAT (1953)
SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS (1957)
OUT OF THE PAST (1947)
GUN CRAZY (1950)
