Suppose I should introduce myself to this website.

Hi I'm Nick aka Dumpster Man
-Content creator and streamer.
-Somewhere between cerebral video essayist and digital clown.
-Known for playing FPS, Souls, & action games incorrectly.

Let me introduce you to your next niche obsession!
Going back to my roots a bit this week, tight ~20 minute video on 5 indie games I think you should check out. Hope to always be able to do this kind of content periodically no matter what kind of other stuff I'm working on!
Installed it right after I rolled credits on KCD2, it's next! Not my usual thing but the amount of people who would say the same that absolutely love it tells me I need to give it a try!
In the last 24 hours I rolled credits on 3 very different GOTY contenders:
-DOOM The Dark Ages
-Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
-Blue Prince

All pretty phenomenal experiences, I think KCD2 still takes it for me but MAN gaming is good in 2025.
Day 5 and final thoughts on DOOM The Dark Ages, greatly enjoyed will flesh these thoughts out for a video soon-ish!
I'm like 120 hours into my playthrough of KCD2, finally wrapping up the story. Thought I had seen all it had to offer and was ready to wrap up, then the game hit me out of nowhere with an OPTIONAL encounter I now think is very close to the pinnacle of storytelling in the medium.
DOOM The Dark Ages Day 4 Notes: Cosmic realm was sick!
Day 3, had more crashes again and the shield bug a couple times. Still overall enjoying a lot, about ready for it to wrap up though (not in a bad way it's just starting to feel LONG).
Just wanted to remind people I got a video on the modern DOOM games out, it had a great first day but views slowed down a lot (prob because of Dark Ages review embargo going up). But if you're waiting for the wide release today and need to kill 2 hours, I gotchu!
I am a relative newcomer to DOOM, but it is impossible to deny that my channel might not exist today without DOOM 2016.

Today I am finally taking a trip back through the modern DOOM games, dissecting everything great and not so great, and how they tee us up for Dark Ages.

DOOM The Dark Ages Session 2 thoughts:
Gonna just post my daily thoughts/notes on Dark Ages as I play for those interested! Had a lot of fun in my first session. Whelmed by the mech and dragon segments, but everything else is top notch so far.
There are DOZENS of us! I actually rolled credits on Hollow Knight and thought it was FINE, but apparently it's like sacrilege to some that I didn't like it enough to 112% it or whatever.
And if you disagree with me that's fine, it's just not a perspective I've ever claimed to provide on my channel, and approaching my videos hoping for deep technical analysis and expert-level understanding is just fitting a square peg in a round hole.
All to say while more time in a game does provide a certain authority on the ins-and-outs of the game, I think to the average person the less educated 'visceral reactions' are more valuable, since that more reflects how most people engage with a game.
In general I actually much prefer if reviews and critiques are done by people who are not experts and have a breadth of gaming experience and made an honest attempt to engage with a game, than someone who knows every single mechanic and detail in depth.
Interesting phenomenon where as soon as you criticize a game at all, people with 500+ hours will come out of the woodwork to tell you you're wrong. I actually do appreciate being corrected on things I get wrong, but at a point your experience of a game does become TOO niche IMO

Well chat, we had a good run but it's time to hang up the old trash can lid and devote my life to our lord and savior Jesus Christ.

On one hand: Never been so stoked on a video while editing.

On the other hand: It's consuming all my free time, don't even have time to stream. Definitely never doing another long video on a time crunch like this...
I'm trying not to overhype this video too much, but I'm genuinely just so excited to release it cause I think it's my best work ever. Here's a peek at the thumbnail, estimating this should be out a week from today.
Oh yeah and I'm playing the Ancient Gods for the first time as a result as well and uhh.... Yeesh they really weren't messing around with these DLCs 😅
Currently in the process of recording my longest commentary video ever, which is a critique of DOOM 2016 and Eternal. Didn't realize how much I would have to say after years of holding myself back from making DOOM content. Hopefully out before Dark Ages drops!
I feel strongly that backseating ruins both the streaming and viewing experience of streams and it has guided a lot of how I moderate my stream, but I've never talked concisely about WHY I feel this way...

Until now. Made a little video on it for my second channel, check it out youtu.be/VqvKsi0p_Ks
I am replaying DOOM Eternal at the moment and having a blast overall but I have a confession to make...

The Marauder is a bad enemy, it makes the game less fun to play every time it appears.

"Skill issue" "Just one-cycle combo it dood"

This is my truth and I'm sticking with it.
I am still scratching my head over what criteria Youtube removed my partnership. I wasn't even aware that was a thing they could do and I didn't even get so much as a heads up email or anything. And fwiw, I hit the OLD, more strict partnership criteria on this channel...
