finally wrote the thing. there's been a lot of doom on here lately--a lot of confusion as to why we haven't simply kicked the bums out. that's not going to happen tomorrow. but it will happen eventually. this is how:

Meet project "Good Old USA" the now unsealed DoJ file on the Russian influence in the US to sway opinion on the war in Ukraine.

Something Trump has bought into hook-line and sinker.

It was held under seal, because we got the literal playbook revealing their methods

One thing I'm fucken sick of hearing is that people on the poverty line "don't want handouts."

Well, the rich take hand outs. Maybe they're rich bc they were offered handouts. Maybe they're rich bc they take them.

This "shame in receiving free money" for the poor but not the rich makes me SO MAD

To me, a Nazi salute means, "I want to murder your family." There can be no irony about it: It puts deep anger and hatred in my heart to see it done and I will never forgive anyone who justifies or minimizes it.

Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.

Dr. Matias is an essential follow if you want to understand more about society and technology ⬇️
I founded CAT Lab on the simple and not always obvious idea that corporations can't be trusted to consistently pursue the common good, which is why we need industry-independent, public-interest science.

Every day I am more convinced this was the right move.

I don't think talking about blamelessness without also talking about power in various forms is useful. I understand why people do it, but it doesn't help with the questions to which I want answers.

One of the most famous Christmas songs in modern times — “Carol of the Bells” — was first performed during a Christmas concert by the student choir of the University of Kyiv on Dec. 29, 1916. There are now over 150 arrangements of the English language version.

I despair of this field every time a tech person tells me that A.I. is "better than nothing" for low-income and/or underserved people. How about we try to get people the resources they need instead of the ones we can make money providing?
“Engineers who designed virtual nurses or AI therapists often told me their technology was ‘better than nothing,’ particularly useful for low-income people who can’t catch the attention of busy nurses in community clinics, for example, or who can’t afford therapy.”
