Did you know that Poland has its own points system for scientific journals? It scores from 0 to 200 and only depends on the minister of science and higher education's whim. For example Nature has 200 points. When Czranek was leaving the office he raised scores for some journals even for 180 points.

I'm glad you've mentioned greed. My favorite example of the Polish anti-vaxxers movement is Jerzy Zięba. He spreads a lot of medical misinformation but simultaneously has his own 'little' shop with dried beetroot for 14 euros / 300g (sic!). You can say he directs money to his 'Little Pharma'.
