Special delivery - the second book in our @bloomsburybooksuk.bsky.social Global Perspectives in Irish Literary Studies series. It’s so good! Well done, Agata, and thanks to @bendoyle.bsky.social for making the whole process so smooth for James Little, Cóilín Parsons, and myself as series co-editors!

It was a real pleasure to deliver a plenary lecture at this year’s ECIS conference held @tlrhub.bsky.social. Having completed my PhD at Trinity and later organised the 2012 ECIS conference there as a postdoc, it felt like a homecoming of sorts!

There was just enough time this morning for a sunny jog around Holyrood Park and a wander around town.

The CFP for this year's #EighteenthCenturyIrelandSociety conference is now live at www.ecis.ie/annual-confe.... Delighted doesn't seem quite strong enough to convey my feelings at being asked to deliver a keynote!

A Christmas gift from my husband, and a really thought-provoking read. I wonder what a gift economy in academia might look like beyond the individual/local level…

My afternoon reading: Clair Wills’ powerful Missing Persons, My Grandmother’s Secrets. I found this un-put-down-able. Highly recommend.

I only respond to ‘Professor’ now. My children have been informed. 🤣

Seriously, though, I’m thrilled to be promoted and am incredibly grateful to my family, friends, colleagues, and mentors for their encouragement and support along the way! I aim to pay it forward.

I’ll be talking about one of my favourite things - ‘dirty’ Irish novels published by the Minerva Press - today at Selwyn College, Cambridge. My sincere thanks to the TCD Association Cambridge Branch for the funding that enabled this research!

A lovely memory from a lovely day - receiving my Excellence in Teaching Award from Acting President Prof. Shane Kilcommins at the recent autumn conferring ceremony.

Read this while lounging on the beach today and wow, did it resonate. I love the authors’ suggestion to change how we speak about our research to emphasise the joy of discovery and understanding (and not lack of time, deadlines, publishing/funding intake pressures). Radical!

Very excited for this conference next week! I’ll be speaking about one of my favourite things, ‘dirty’ books, specifically those I found during my Visiting Research Fellowship this past year at TCD library and at Cambridge University Library.
