If we counted that as revenue, we would be in more than fine shape. The gap divided by the number of students working at NU comes to less than half of what the full in state tuition is worth. Its so dumb

That's how I have felt about UNL, it's an R1 in name only. But it did mean that I could spend time on teaching and things beyond writing grants. Alas, they think they are going to cut programs to get back into AAU now

This resonates with me so hard. Going to faculty Senate is a drag but you make friends and you talk about stuff. AAUP potlucks are just an amazing mashup of people who are passionate about the University as an idea.

One of the things that is the most special in our department is that it's not just one or two, it's everyone. We have an egalitarian culture where everyone shares in the all of the work. Research, teaching, service, all of us are triple threats
