As Qld government school teachers take industrial action again today, I'm impressed by the level of public support. When I was a teacher we were so demonised for going on strike. This is both good news for public education and sobering. Sobering because we're aware of current teaching conditions.

Every time we remove knowledge from its roots, put it in a classroom, a textbook, an online worksheet or an AI platform, that knowledge becomes more and more statistical, more and more cerebral, more and more artificial. Teachers are tasked with the impossible of ensuring our intelligence is logical

I have continuously grappled with the concept of neoliberalism and the uncritical use of the term that has become an empty signifier. In this blog I have come to a point where I will concede AI is neoliberal adjacent.
Why are the Napoleonic wars not considered world wars? In family history chats and my ancestors were considered naval fighters in the Napoleonic Wars when fighting the Dutch in Indonesia. Way to find out the horrors committed by ancestor ship crews in Timor-Leste as well
