We started working on this manuscript in…wait for it…2019!! The idea was to look at publication bias by gender of authors, and we were lucky one of the top surgical journals in the world agreed to give us their data, not just for what was published, but for what was *submitted*. +

1/ I vividly remember my first couple weeks as a new physician. One day I was a student, the next people were calling me "Doctor" and asking me for orders that directly affected patients. The fear that I might harm someone's child sat heavily on me. It still does.

So the slimiest, lying, most selfish “doctors“ on social media have now been granted control of healthcare in America. They’re being rewarded for being awful human beings. So many Americans, and so many children in particular, are going to be so desperately hurt by these choices.
