PhD from QUB. 🎓 Thesis examined gaming and the ludic in late medieval literature. Views my own.

Hello Bluesky! I am a recent PhD graduate from NI. My thesis identified a 'ludic mode' within late medieval English narratives (romance, drama, poetry), offering new critical perspectives on the likes of The Canterbury Tales and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.

Happy to chat about my research!

Utterly grim. But there’s a lesson in this for progressive parties - no matter how much you try to chase Reform/Tory territory on LGBT+ rights, the right will still use every misogynistic, homophobic or transphobic trope against you.
A series of fake news clips have gone viral on X, TikTok and YouTube which falsely claim British comedian Jim Davidson has leaked CCTV footage of Keir Starmer and Labour donor Lord Alli "in a compromising position".

The videos appear to be part of a targeted fake news campaign.

There's stiff competition, but "I didn't know what this was as a child" may be the worst logic for disbelieving anything I have ever heard.
RFK JR: ADD, ADHD, Tourette syndrome, Narcolepsy, Autism.. All of these are injuries that I never heard of when I was a kid.

In a move to change cultural attitudes about childbearing, the Trump administration may soon start bestowing mothers of six or more children a special medal.

Here's a not-so-fun fact: This idea was popularized in Nazi Germany.

That #DoctorWho season opener was a lot of fun! It conveyed a sense of scale and stakes that felt missing last season, and Belinda's immediately brilliant! SO excited to see what this series has in store.

people are making fun of this as being pretentious or pedantic but they are totally different languages! middle english is somewhat intelligible to a modern english speaking audience and old english is about intelligible to a modern english speaking audience as german or dutch!
Robert Eggers has revealed that the dialogue in his upcoming film #Werwulf will be entirely in Middle English:

« It’s been said, and taken as official, that the movie is in Old English. But obviously, because of the 13th-century setting, it’s Middle English. I just want to be clear on that. »

Are Nintendo pre-empting Trump's tariffs or is there another reason for this? Nintendo will be selling a region-locked #Switch2 in Japan for $133 less than the international version - the one sold in the rest of the world.

Is there precedent for this?

There's a scene in Episode 2 where a hapless teacher puts on a film rather than actually engaging with the kids.

Adolescence is brilliant, but I fear reducing it to its message isn't going to help anyone, and there are far more interesting ways of engaging with it.

Women played an important role in policing 13th-century England. Women couldn't be in frankpledge or sit on juries, but they were still required to raise the hue & cry, they chased criminals when need be, and were required to attend trials when they witnessed crime or discovered bodies. 🧵1/5

I know everyone's saying it but seriously give #adolescence a go. The script, acting, and camerawork would be commendable in isolation, but as a whole ... wow.

It's also only four episodes, so it's easily bingeable.

So @telegraphnews.bsky.social is claiming that the BBFC's content advice, which they've written for as long as I can remember, is now some kind of 'woke' trigger warning.

It's either ignorance or willful ignorance - not sure wat's worse.
