Idc about people being motivated by spite as long as they can also be motivated by love. It doesn’t have to be the fuel you use every time you hit the gas. I don’t really care what gets you there, I just want you to have a full set of tools. Dependence on one kind of motivation is self-destructive.

I'm not teaching my grad course 'Civil Resistance: How It Works' this semester. But here is an abridged version of the course schedule, readings, and films I used the last time I taught it (in 2022). Just in case it's useful. drive.google.com/file/d/14RRJ...

Dear Democratic Party: why are you not screaming this from every rooftop? Why are you not holding press conferences with these poor fired people - putting a face on what the richest man is destroying?
“The thing that I can’t get over is that the actual richest man in the world directed my fucking firing. I make $50k a year and work to keep drinking water safe. The richest man in the world decided that was an expense too great for the American taxpayer.”
Yesterday many thousands of federal employees were terminated. This is a Reddit thread for federal employees that got laid off.

Couldn't be clearer that Democrats aren't a party in the way that Republicans are a party. The GOP has an ideological project. They build power to accomplish specific things. The project of the Democratic Party is getting Democrats reelected. 80-90+% of Congress is, so it doesn't take much effort.

Giving infectious disease research a break, as promised by the MAHA agenda.

Let's break down what exactly this Executive Order is *really* saying.

Fortunately, I speak fluent anti-vax grifterese & can translate.

“The Black community never has our backs.” Meanwhile, Black and Indigenous people have the highest disability rates. Who is our? Maybe learn to be intersectional and stop letting your whiteness fuel your desire to disrupt conversations by centering your own experiences. That’s why we are here now!

I’m sad to learn that my law school classmate, Kiah Duggins, died in the DC plane crash last night.

Kiah was an exceptionally talented civil rights lawyer and aspiring legal scholar.

I hope you’ll read about her work and the causes she cared about, some of which I’ll 🧵 below.

What an immense loss

DEI programs and people with disabilities did not cause the midair collision in DC. Trump gutting the FAA did that.

But the DEI program Trump is trying to blame was started in 2019 — by Trump.

Working on a grant application and mid-draft, I’m notified by a colleague that the CDC’s social vulnerability index tool has been removed from their site. For a party who claims they want a small government, they are taking big efforts to suppress essential training, documents, and resources.

i think it is important to say that the open and explicit racism of the president and the vice president isn’t just uncouth or “controversial” but a direct attack on tens of millions of americans and a dereliction of their duty to represent the entire country

1. Wow, the bios! Such amazing people on here, so happy to be connected.

2. Outside of social justice and human rights, how and where do I find the sports dolls and those with questionable taste in television shows like myself? Love & Marriage Huntsville, Traitors, RHOP, M2M, etc?

The movement to make phone calls free for incarcerated people is soaring — zero states had done this until 2021, and now four have. Massachusetts is on the cusp of becoming the fifth. https://boltsmag.org/massachusetts-prison-jail-phone-calls/
Massachusetts Is Set to Make Communications Free for Incarcerated People
The reform would eliminate the exorbitant charges people face to keep in touch with loved ones in jail and prison, removing a heavy financial burden for thousands.

The Texas legislature is so chaotic 🫠. At this point, when is the federal government stepping in? We actually don’t need states’ rights, that has literally never worked out. Governors should be like mid-level managers at best, they acting like Executive Directors all across the South.
