Ending #Piemageddon2025 with a pair of chocolate meringue pies. The filling came out lovely, but this are not among my better meringues; I couldn’t get it get it quite to proper stiff peaks. Even worse, the meringues of both pies pulled away from the crust as they cooled (not shown).

#Piemageddon2025 continues with…not actually a pie: behold the banana pudding! For those of you who didn’t grow up with this dessert, it’s kind of like a trifle, composed of layers of vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and vanilla pudding, with a sprinkling of crushed vanilla wafers on top.

Continuing #Piemageddon2025 fruit pie day: cherry pies. Cherry was last year’s disaster pie (if you bake with frozen fruit, defrost it ALL the way before draining it). My shopping buddy found jarred sour cherries, so I’m hopeful these will be good.

#Piemageddon2025 day 2: fruit pies. Two very spicy deep dish apple pies. One of my housemates has a hand-cranked apple peeler-slicer-corer, which really sped up the apple processing!

End of day 1 of #Piemageddon2025: chocolate chess. I seem to have lost the recipe I’ve used before, so I improvised.

#Piemageddon2025 continues with chess pies. I’m hoping I successfully troubleshot the texture issue this time (I beat the eggs extra vigorously)

#Piemageddon2025 is begun! First up, a trio of pumpkin pies (because the One Pie recipe makes 1.5 pies). I got my disaster pie out of the way early by dropping one while sliding it into the oven (fortunately onto a baking sheet that caught the spilled custard). Pretty. Clear which pie it was.

I feel you. I feel you so hard. Still missing my little man Byron, who I said goodbye to last month.

Hey birders! Anyone know what this handsome fellow is? And is it weird for it to sitting on a sidewalk, or that it let me get pretty close to it?

This is the face of a cat who, earlier this evening, was crying as though her heart would break.

Because she could see the bottom of her kibble dish. It wasn’t empty, just didn’t contain enough kibble to completely cover the bottom of the dish.

Byron looking almost as well as he did two weeks ago.

He’s on borrowed time, but more of it than it looked like this weekend.
