Fun fact - if you withdrew the entire US federal budget in singles and stacked it, it would stretch past the moon.

Also, the Treasury would be very mad at you.

I'm in Chicago, and boy, I sure do love these endless alleyways. Peak urban form.

Fun fact! the biggest event of the year, the McMinnville UFO festival, is happening this weekend. It draws in people from all over the country and Third Street downtown is open to pedestrian and parade traffic only.

All of those people are currently forced to drive here. No weekend bus service.

SDCs on average represent 2.6-5.5% of dev costs, higher for lower-cost housing. Infrastructure improvements also benefit neighboring values and the city as a whole, so from an equity perspective, this implies phasing out SDCs in favor of city financing could have a progressive redistributive effect.

Give your input on the updates to the Oregon State Rail Plan www.oregon.gov/odot/rptd/pa...

I did my part!

Now that we're seeing the Oregon legislature proposing serious improvements to our passenger rail systems, it reminded me of this map created by @bradleybondy.com back in 2023.

Could something like this network be seriously considered for the valley at some point? Or is it still pie in the sky?

Reminds me of back in December when Putin was quoted in the Moscow times with this gem.

I don't know if many Americans are following Syria right now (why would you?), but every day it seems a new major cities are captured by rebels.

People forget US/Turkey have actual troops supporting rebel/SDF forces, with Iran/Russia supporting Assad. If his regime truly collapses, it's a big deal.

I can't believe the weed unionization guys snuck this into the Oregon voters' pamphlet lmao

God bless this state.

Guess who got a framed vintage interurban electric railway map for Christmas.

Merry urbanist christmas to all who celebrate. 🏙🚋🎄

I feel like I should mention scissor stairs (two stairs sharing one stairwell) could be an effective compromise to some of the obstacles posed by double-loaded corridor requirements without sacrificing capacity, but US jurisdictions often explicitly exclude this option.
