We all win with the government reopening and the demands for affordability and smart healthcare, economic, and immigration policies continues.

Trump showed to be tone deaf to the needs and demands of people while partying, pardoning, and lobbying for the 1% wealthiest people around the world, thus burning his "populist" credentials.

Nevertheless, if the shutdown continued past Thanksgiving or the Holidays, the public could have blamed both parities and government in general and there would have been much suffering by those most in need.

It also allows activists to keep calling Democrats for a "strong spine" and a direct confrontation of negative admin. policies.

So reopening the government had to be done. At the same time, having just the numbers needed to overcome the filibuster rather than an overall Democrat support for reopening the government probably gave those few Senators a higher leverage with the Republican Senate Leader.

Republicans lost the communication battle around the shutdown because their lie about immigrants did not stick and it was clear they lacked empathy for people receiving SNAP benefits, etc.

This Republican opposition to make health care insurance more affordable has become clear to everyone. Therefore, the Democrats will probably win the messaging out of the shutdown in the mid- and long- term.

and there were no signs whatsoever that Trump would strengthen Obamacare, which Republicans have voted unsuccessfully over 70 times to terminate.

As I told Univision 41, New York yesterday morning (11-10-25) while many people will no longer be able to afford their insurance even under the Affordable Care Act, the tax breaks were initially set to expire & contrary to Democratic requests the subsidies were not part of the Big Beautiful Bill,

Democrats do not win on their main demand around the Affordable Care Act, which was always unlikely, but win on the messaging and raising the profile of the issue. People can vote on that in 2026 and 2028.

-Everyone traveling during the holidays.
-The American economy gets a needed boost from federal expenses, programs, and investments.
