1.) My 83 year old dad had his first brush with AI this week He's a lawyer -- longtime readers know he got laid off in his 50's and got his law degree at 58, which is relevant because of proud he always was for getting that degree.

I haven’t finished reading it yet, because my eyes are blurry with tears. I’m not sure if I’ll ever be in the forest on a fully packed bike again, but my e-bike allowed me to traverse the cities and cruise the river again. There’s magic everywhere when on a bike, and I am so grateful.

This really is grotesque: they went through years-long citizenship processes and are now being denied simply because if the country they are from. It’s formalized bigotry.

I missed this from a couple of weeks ago, but if you're an NIH-funded investigator, please read.

Peer review will exist to make things look legitimate, but can, and will, be over-ruled. Funding decisions, ultimately, will be done by political appointees.
