All that being said- I see about 4 or 5 people per subway car still masking, and genuinely encounter a few folks masking out doors still too. NYC hasn’t quite forgot- but 90% have. (Who knows which one the tourists are- probably the slow walkers.)

NY’er here. Still masking. Public transport, grocery stores. I very selectively will spend time unmasked with close friends. For some work events/sessions I don’t mask for fear of not making the personal connections etc. I’m terrified. I’ve got autoimmune diseases already.

🤣 I mean, I spent a lot of time with Irish nuns & priests as a kid but, it did not give me an accent. Would have been nice though. (Don’t worry I sound more like a NYer now than anything.. unless I’m really excited to see some one or stub my toe.)

I’ve had a theory for a long time that the American accent is derived largely from the immigration pool of Irish and Norwegians- because they both have similar hard R pronunciations? When I lived in both Leeds and Rome people kept asking if I was Irish.
(I’m from SoCal-originally.)

Yes, lol because they were the production reference I got given the most. Suddenly everyone wanted to make that record- or that sound. Ooof. Does anyone remember how to be themselves?

I make enough back from Bandcamp sales to pay the difference, but the whole model is intensely fucked where I have to subsidize these giant streaming corps. It's like they reimagined payola in a way where I still have to pay a middle man but I don't even get a guarantee that my music is played.

Wow, this is sooo beautiful. I love it. It feels visceral. The colors feel like- so atmospheric I could almost imagine what it felt like to stand there- the way the air might smell even.

Plans with ones cat or animal pals are always a great solace. 😺
