Doctors, famous for having no problems giving trans people treatment
It's very simple: you struggled to access your bodily autonomy, and eventually got it, and trans people did the same. Now you're using the arguments that were used to harm you, to harm others. That last part I cannot make sense of.

Guys, as a ex call center employee, this is fucking DESPERATION BEHAVIOR.

Pizza and ice cream once may be an entire year's planned discretionary budget for a team, they do NOT value them enough to provide common comfort. If their doing this? Their not just scared, their TERRIFIED.
Spoke with a source who told me the call volume is so high, a call center for both Mastercard & Visa is bringing out pizza and ice cream so agents don’t quite amid the rush. Long waits are causing dropped calls.

What you’re doing is working. Call MC & Visa.

I wish policy makers could given even half as much thought and compassion to the subject of trans youth and their support.

This is very much worth a read

Really, really good interview on the issues with restricting transition care, creating adversarial relationships between patients and providers and advocating for trans-hostile standards that harm trans people and detransitioners alike.

When the media and government move to demonise a minority it’s always noticeable how that minority gets denied the concept of including children or minors, as she was 17 at the time.

“what if they change their mind later” is never asked about cis kids going through puberty, even though they might be trans, which reveals that cis people view transness as a defect
The only truly irreversible thing a trans child is likely to do is take their own life. "What if they do something irreversible?" actually means "theyre not allowed to make a decision!"

You cant undo or reverse any decision you make, you can simply change your mind later and handle the consequences

First country in the world to implement UBI: Marshall Islands! This is a fascinating article how it happened and how it's being paid for:

Ask yourself: without your mobility aid (car), can you:
- get groceries
- see friends
- go to the doctor's
- go to the dentist's
- go to school
- go to a community centre
- go swimming
- get a haircut
- get take away
- go to a park
- go to a therapist
- see a gig
- go to a bakery
- go to a cafe

The thing with car culture is that you create a social model where every human being is, by default, disabled and cannot meet their daily needs without a mobility device. People have a relationship to their car more akin to a wheelchair than to a train. That's a problem.

"Sometimes you have to do things you don't like" is sort of a harsh reality of life and it's concerning that reactionaries want to just opt out of community, democracy, public health, everything that makes society functional.

Great thread; yes-anding that this tends to happen with all social justice that describes something as a social construct. For ex, "if you say gender is a social construct, that must make my gender not real," or "if gender is constructed, that basically approves of conversion therapy"
There's a misconception I see a lot wrt to the social model of disability and disability pride more broadly that when we say these things we mean that disability isn't real or that our impairments don't cause real problems for us.

I'm really proud of this episode. I wrote about SBB in 'Trans/Rad/Fem', where I talked more about the novel itself and the way it's venerated as a sort of guide on how to live a lesbian life. Here, we get to discuss and break down its politics in much greater detail.

I genuinely love this book.

I really think the people who say "anyone can call themselves trans these days" imagine some kind of past where you'd go to the doctor feeling poorly, men in white coats run a battery of tests and then, eventually, the doctor says solemnly "I'm sorry, I'm afraid I have to diagnose you with trans"
"Letting trans folks Self-ID is a problem!"

How the fuck else do we determine we're trans if not through self-identifying? You have to figure out you're trans (or might be) before you can even begin the process of fighting through the system to transition. This is fucking stupid.
