Indeed. At least some folks were able to talk to their loved ones one last time. That weird time when cell phones existed but not everyone was carrying them around everywhere.

There were a few variations but yeah basically the same. Hopefully it was a magical experience. I never had the need to I guess.

Yeah, modern is definitely a relative term. I don't think they would have done as well in a car from before we knew about crumple zones.
