I’m genuinely confused reading this article what is being alleged to have happened. I assumed backchannel talks were happening with leadership’s approval, but none of what’s in the screenshots seems like Schumer dictating something that got heroically rejected by the caucus?

This. Raising politician salaries by several hundred percent would be so good for our democracy, but would be about the most toxically unpopular thing imaginable, which is a huge shame.

The Mayor of New York only makes $260k. I bet there are police that make more than that in NY with overtime.

If you're an early-career creator or are within a degree of me, I will go over an appearance contract gratis (not including substantial revisions or multiple passes).
There are plenty of lawyers who'd review agreements like these for just time spent, to. It's not going to be free, but a lawyer once over of a, say, 9 page appearance agreement may not break the bank, its worth doing.

Nothing in politics evinces electability more than getting elected. An incumbent is not gonna be easy to beat, 9 times out of 10.
