More focusing on neck contour and head proportions
I found a technique I like for making a subtle fur pattern: shade in in the direction of the fur grain and erase slightly against the grain

I also paid especial attention to the curve of the neck where it joins the body. I noticed some issues in that area, over past sketches, that I want to go back and fix

I've noticed in past sketches that I tend to lose the proportion between the head and the body, so I made especial effort to track that and correct it today.

I think the studies are paying off! This one felt a lot easier in transitioning from looseness in the gesture stage to the detailed stage

The pose was challenging. I should probably have sketched out the structure more. I'll be studying up on animal anatomy and posing in the middle of the challenge, so I'll hammer out a better process then.
