Just another freak in the freak kingdom. Of course I have a podcast- Raven On: currently racing into the #FastandFurious franchise http://soundcloud.com/girlclumsy/
Just from a design standpoint, having your app icon be an "X" is just such a stupid concept. It makes it look like the app has crashed or something.

Speaking just for me, I have a long lineup of people at the Other Place waiting for an invite code. Most of us only get one maybe every two weeks, after all.
It seems the newskie onboarding has slowed down a bit, and I'm wondering if a) that's an effect of Threads opening up, b) an artifact of people here with invites having invited all the people they planned to invite (or having those folks already here), or, c) I'm just imagining things

At some point in the second half of the ep I thought there's no way Deadloch can stick the landing and then it absolutely does. Fantastic show.

Thinking of the many, many twitter successors (remember CoHost?) looking on with resigned envy today. "We didn't even use invites, where the hell is everyone?"

I deactivated my threads account already but it turns out you can’t delete your threads account *without also deleting your Instagram account* so maybe just don’t sign up!

sad that zuck has gone down to an all time low (creating an even worse, influencer-infested version of twitter) off the back of an all time high (threatening to bash elon musk in the gosford kfc car park)

the fact that Threads will grab the majority of celebrities and Bluesky seems poised to get the majority of Twitter's nerds is something we should celebrate
No I'm not setting up there even though it's definitely where all the hot people will go
Posts on Threads should be called threats

I'll tell you what most breaks my heart about the latest AVC iteration post-editorial (and freelancer) exodus: There's no institutional history. The brand means nothing if you never acknowledge the people who built it and the work they did. There are *decades* of great pieces, never linked to again.

Me: so Threads is like the Tyrells bc it’s well funded but most of the people are frivolous idiots while Twitter is the Lannisters bc it’s full of inbred people who only care about wealth and want to push kids out of windows and that means Bluesky is Hotpie-

It's the Insta/FB version of the Twitter model. They just wanted to stake a claim in the space. It'll be interesting to see how they tweak it in the coming weeks.
Threads has a single algorithmic feed full of posts from everyone on the app and…that’s it. Unlike Twitter, Mastodon or Bluesky, it doesn’t seem possible to only view posts from people you follow. There’s just one feed full of people and brands I don’t follow. It kind of sucks.
