We got lucky in that our power only went out for a day, and somehow i magically knew to fill our bathtub full of water before the water was turned off. I don't know why i did that but thank god because we could still use our toilet.

Something about having no running water for a week and iced into your apartment is a little traumatizing. For some reason. I melted some snow in a big pot and boiled it at one point but looking at all the stuff floating on top was like... ;(
