A really good Diocesan Synod affirming our vision and strategy work, as well as receiving Baroness Sal Brinton’s challenge about truly welcoming disabled people into the life of the Church.

Very concerned to hear of the large fire at St John's Church, Harleston. Prayers that no one is injured and for the emergency services tackling the blaze.

Today I sat through some excellent speeches in the House of Lords. The clear message was that the ‘Assisted Dying’ Bill needs much more scrutiny. The expertise in the House is immense. Deep concerns were raised by doctors, nurses, lawyers, and those of us experienced in pastoral care of the dying.

The latest summer heatwave of 2025 has not slowed down the process of licensing new priests across Norfolk and Waveney!

Of late, these have included Bishops Graham and Ian welcoming clergy in Hemsby and Lound, Thorpe End and Stalham and Smallburgh.

The smiling faces of a couple unexpectedly married by a bishop!

Congratulations to Adam and Nina, married by the Bishop of Thetford who stepped in to officiate at short notice.

The rain held off for the annual outdoor service at St Benet’s Abbey on Sunday 27 July.

The only monastery in England not closed by Henry VIII but given to the Bishop of Norwich.

Each summer, as Abbot of the Abbey, the Bishop holds a service of prayer and worship.

To St Benet’s Abbey in the Norfolk Broads today by wherry - my annual abbatial duty. A great outdoor service at the cross.
