Roblox is great at killing good user interfaces, like what is demonstrated with the Xbox UI. A perfectly good interface that loads 4 real modeled places in the background was replaced by a laggy mess that can barely load 2 on Xbox One and One S. The reason? PlayStation and the Roblox mobile apps.
The older Xbox UI, codenamed Durango, which had a blue theme and a tiled Windows 8-like UI. The UI had a theme song, sound effects and an animated background that rotated between 3 real .rblx files: one of a city, one of space, and one of a volcano. The UI was specially designed specifically for the Xbox One back in 2015, when development on an Xbox version of Roblox started. The UI was specially optimized for the Xbox One, meaning it ran faster and smoother. Pictured is the final version of the Durango UI before it was replaced by the Universal UI. The newer Universal UI. The blue backgrounds and tiles were replaced by an avatar editor-like background, with grey cubes and a simple grey skybox. The background only animates when you switch tabs, and is generally slower to load on the Xbox One and Xbox One S due to poor optimization.
