This is great in principle, but in practice passion projects run out of funding in about 3 years. Work without a broader framework of support can only be sustained by the fortunate few who had large resources already available for discretionary spending.

I really hope Typst will mature in a way that simplifies the package ecosystem as much as possible, since the special case hacks are always lurking in the corners where the kernel hadn't provided the right absteactions.
