The argument I was trying to make tho was that this transition effects the mnemonic function of walking through the city and that we can draw a parallel between the changes in the built environment and the changes in the structure of the psyche wrt to memory, time, and consciousness

aha! very cool! I was interested in the transition from cobblestone to asphalt in pavement in Paris which had strong political grounds (rebellions can't create barricades with asphalt like they can with cobblestones). This book was helpful to me on the topic
