Hi all. I'm seeking local (Chicago area) publications, websites, and journalists who cover arts and culture—in particular, theater and cultural activism. I'd especially like to contact Bilingual/Spanish-language pubs and writers. Respond here or reach out to me at [email protected].

Heads up one of the things that really sucks hard about this is that you can't get marketplace insurance in December if your life event is losing your insurance bc your job ends. I know bc I tried to do this in 2024 and the lady on the phone let me know how upset this makes people.

Senators Crapo & Cassidy have now released bill language for their health "plan". Besides nothing on expiring Marketplace credits and HSAs, it adds 3 harmful #Medicaid cuts from House version of H.R. 1 that were dropped in final law due to Senate rules (1/x): www.finance.senate.gov/download/hea...

Marian Wright carries RFKs legacy. She went on to create the Children's Defense Fund, which advocates for the health, education and well-being of children. I'll just mention that the antivaxx advocacy group RFK Jr chaired is called Children's Health Defense.

It's like real life Goofus and Gallant
This is a photograph from 1967 of RFK visiting a Head Start Center in MS. Kennedy went to the Delta bc Marian Wright told him to go and see and listen.

Here he is observing a child in an evidence-based program focused on health, education, and learning in a child's own loving community.

I knew in my bones that this is where all the seed oil foolishness was going to end up

Fed is best. End of story.

This should be the beginning and end of this conversation.

"But there is a cost even to accepting the choice. For one thing, giving in to population panic and endorsing a plan to increase birth rates implicitly supports anti-immigration politics and yields ground to racist fear-mongering."

Unpopular thought maybe but I think we need more relative time markers within the month. For example, I would like to pay my mortgage on the Nones but try explaining this to the bank.

A thing my husband says that really unsettles me is "somebody peed on..."

Our house contains 2 youngish kids, 2 oldish pets + a bonus dog so he likely means "I have encountered urine. It's not mine. Send help."

The simultaneous open-endedness, inevitably, and mystery of it all is just too much.

Birthright citizenship and the 14th Amendment are also extremely important to public administration because they define the scope of public services. Even though this has not been truly and fully realized in this country, it's still really important for keeping the public sector on the hook.

Money Doesn't Buy Elections. It Does Something Worse.
