Crazy Eddie's Used Computers

I like to do stuff with ancient electronic junk, mostly computers. Sometimes I post pictures of it!
This is my favorite Elvis album; no music, it's an album comprised entirely of random chatter from Elvis between sets.

This entire album is Frank wasting your time and his talent but also I still love “The Radio is Broken” so all is forgiven. Also "Cocaine Decisions" seems to fit the current era, perhaps with a different drug substituted in, time is a flat circle, etc.

My uncle lent me this album (and a handful of other early Zappa titles) when I was 13 and it became one of my favorites. I was a total Zappa junkie through middle and high school and I'm still a big fan, though it can be difficult to reconcile some of his more problematic aspects.

Behold, the worst lyrics I've found in my record collection thus far on my listening adventures through stuff I bought 20 years ago and completely forgot about. *Subtle*. These aren't even the worst lyrics in the song but I'll be damned if I'm going to trranscribe them.

I guess I'm just gonna keep posting into the ether about various items in my record collection. This is who I am now. This is what I do. So anyway I found this one, another from the "I can think of no other reason why I would have bought this other than the cover." It opens with a Hendrix cover...

Another part of the late '60s Michigan Rock scene, Bob Seger just rips the ceiling off on this album. He'd soften up quite a bit starting in the mid 1970s but he was cool once!

And continuing our Michigan Rock trip here this afternoon and in the spirit of today’s country-wide protest against fascist assholes it’s time for some MC5. KICK OUT THE JAMS, MOTHERFUCKERS!

And I guess, since we're in Michigan now, we could do worse than some Stooges. My copy has not been treated well but I think it just adds to the overall effect.

Alright the clock has struck two and we're gonna take it down a notch, but only just. This is an album that I have a specific attachment to, a little corner of Michigan rock history. My dad grew up in Saginaw and his older sister saw them play.

This sounds exactly how you'd expect it to sound. Nice honest packaging.

Unfortunately this tape *may* have shed some oxide. (This is usually bad.)

Technology basically peaked right around when they figured out how to make auto-loading 9-track tape drives. Indistinguishable from magic.

In a vain attempt to distract myself from reality, it is now time to BAKE SOME TAPES. Tomorrow: I shall make a vain attempt to recover data from them. Some of these came out of a house that suffered fire damage, some from a garage that suffered water damage. Either way: fun on a bun.

All set up for ICF tomorrow, showing off my LMI Lambda; we'll see how long it takes before we blow a breaker. If you're in the Seattle area, drop by! Check out sdf.org/icf/ for the deets!

Spent a few days this past week bringing this old Heathkit AA-2004 Quadraphonic Amplifier back to life. I think I may have spent more on capacitors than this thing's worth but fuck it, I like Heathkit stuff. If I had my way, everything would be as easy to work on as this thing is.

you may not like it but this is what peak DOS gaming looks like: DOOM in CGA running in greyscale on a portrait CRT with P40 phosphor.
